Dr. Melvin Rabin

Dr. Melvin Rabin, Retired Clinical Psychologist and Trauma Expert

A retired clinical psychologist, Dr. Melvin Rabin practiced in the mental health field for nearly five decades. Dr. Melvin Rabin established Rabin Associates in 1973 and spent 45 years helping patients work through psychological and interpersonal challenges. His approach drew on extensive clinical training while recognizing that different patients often require different forms of support.

Dr. Melvin Rabin focused on trauma as he developed expertise in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, or EMDR, and trained other psychologists who worked with trauma patients. His expertise earned recognition, and he served as an expert witness in matters involving post-traumatic stress disorder.

Throughout his career, Dr. Rabin lectured at hospitals and universities in the Boston area and held a clinical instructor position associated with Harvard Medical School's Department of Psychiatry. He also served as the first chief clinical psychologist of a Massachusetts Probate and Family Trial Court clinic.

Dr. Rabin continues to follow developments in psychology, neuroscience, and medical research. He also enjoys spending time with his family.
